Lewisham College Students Raise Money For Charity
A group of Lewisham College Supported
Learning students have teamed up with the College's Sports
Department to raise over £200 for charity this spring.
Students organised a football tournament as part of the
College's Vinvolved volunteering scheme and eight teams battled it
out to be crowned champions while fellow volunteers raised money
through bucket collections.
Proceeds have been donated to the winning team's charity of
choice, Cancer Research UK. Students were inspired to donate to
Cancer Research UK as one of their Lewisham College tutors,
Catherine Nwaogwugwu, will be taking part in the Blackheath Race
for Life in July.
Emily Clayton from Cancer Research UK was on hand to accept the
cheque from the winning team. She said: "It was fantastic to come
to Lewisham College and meet all the students who are supporting
their lecturer who is joining the girls at the Blackheath Race for
Life this summer. They have already raised over £200 which will go
towards our life saving work".
