Lewisham College Students Host floorSCAPE Exhibition

This month Lewisham College Supported Learning students will be
hosting floorSCAPE: an innovative exhibition at Deptford's APT
Gallery as part of Deptford's Last Fridays.
The Skills For Creative Arts students have worked with visual
artist, project coordinator and Lewisham College tutor Cash Aspeek
in a series of workshops hosted at the APT.
The students have made sculptures and installations out of peat,
sand, cardboard and tape and have had the chance to work with a
series of top local artists during three one day workshops.
"The students are enjoying it so much," says Cash Aspeek.
"They've been able to work with local artists in a huge space with
textures we wouldn't normally use. They're working in ways they've
never worked before, really pushing the boundaries, and they've
really impressed the professionals."
"The best bit was making the statue sculpture out of cardboard,"
adds student Rebeka Frazer. "I had lots of fun. Art's great - you
can do all different things. I feel proud of my work, I hope my mum
comes to the exhibition!"
A private view of the work will be from 6pm on Friday 28
January 2011. The exhibition will then open to the public over the
weekend.Read more about the project here: http://www.aptstudios.org/SCAPE/index.htm
