Two Lewisham College Hospitality students and one member of staff are setting out on the trip of a lifetime this weekend.

Senior Hospitality tutor Aidan Fullerton and students Bhagwati Gurung and Sam Mark Weatherly are heading to Hong Kong on Saturday to take part in Going Global, the international education conference sponsored by the British Council, the UK's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. They will be joined by students and staff from Westminster Kingsway and Hackney colleges.

Aidan, Bhagwati and Sam will have the opportunity to exchange culinary practices and ideas with their Asian counterparts as well as doing some sightseeing. Students from the London colleges will then take on students from the Asian colleges in an East vs. West style cooking challenge where the teams will be tasked to produce a three course meal from a mystery box of ingredients.

Lewisham College Hospitality student Sam Mark Weatherly said he was "excited" to have the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong and compete in the contest adding: "I'm just looking forward to finding out what's in the mystery box now!"

Senior Hospitality tutor Aidan Fullerton can't wait to set off, saying: "To travel is a wonderful experience and in Hong Kong the students will have the chance to learn about new foods, new cultures and meet like minded people; for us that's the main focus of the trip. And do we have a chance to win the competition? Well if you're not in it you can't win it!"
