08 June 2011

Kerri SkillBuildCongratulations to Kerri Chambers 22, a 3rd year bricklaying apprentice at Lewisham College, who we believe, is the first female to win the regional Senior SkillBuild competition.

The London finals of the competition were held at Barking and Dagenham College on the 26th May 2011.

Kerri will now represent London in the National final at Leeds College of Building on the 14 - 16th September 2011, with those finalists having the chance to compete in the global awards later in the year at the 02 Arena in London.

Kerri, who works for Galostar, also won the Olympic Award 'Apprentice of the Year' in July 2010.

John White, Senior Practitioner, construction department at Lewisham College said:

"I believe Kerri is the first female ever to win this competition. It demonstrates the high standard of teaching and the commitment and dedication of our students to reach the highest standards. This is outstanding news and a proud day for the department."

Another Lewisham College Painting and Decorating Apprentice - Dominic Whyte who works for Mulalley, was also successful, coming fourth in the competition.
