ESOL Students Raise Money For EveryChild

A group of enterprising ESOL students have this term raised a
massive £500 for charity.
As part of the College's Vinvolved volunteering scheme, the
students opened and ran their own lunchtime tuck shop selling
sweets, snacks and biscuits to staff and students.
The money has been donated to international development charity
EveryChild, who work to
keep families together, keep vulnerable children safe, and get
children back with a safe and caring family.
Tuck shop boss and ESOL student Shafiullah Musazai said: "The
tuck shop has been run like a proper business, with managers,
accountants and assistants. We decided to donate to Every Child
after researching them online and voting on it as a group.
"Our aim was to support people in need and improve our language
skills at the same time."
Fellow ESOL student Ching Yi Mok said: "We learned really useful
customer service skills too - we'll be able to use them in the
future when we go out into the workplace."
"We really enjoyed it," adds ESOL student Khalid Noori, "It's good
to be able to help other people."
