Lewisham College offers a wide range of vocational courses at a variety of levels. Our courses focus on providing students with practical skills that they can use to progress in work and education.

Pre Entry Qualifications

Youth Entry to Further Education (YEFE)

Our YEFE course has been specially designed to allow young people who have been out of education for a while to get a flavour of a range of subject areas while developing study skills and providing support for personal development.

Pre Entry - Entry Level ESOL

If English isn't your child's first language, then we have a course especially for them. This pre-entry level course is an intensive English language course which can lead to other College courses or employment. Please note: this Skills for Life course is free (including registration fee) for eligible students.

Apprenticeships

As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job, usually on a day-release basis, apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. Anyone living in England, over 16 and not in full-time education can apply.

BTECs

Our BTEC courses can be the equivalent of up to three A levels, but unlike A levels, they aren't exam based. Students instead complete a number of units, and are assessed on how they perform in their coursework. At Lewisham College, we offer BTECs in a wide range of areas, from art to computing.

NVQs

NVQs are often job specific, and they are created and delivered in partnership with employers. NVQs prove you can do a particular job. Getting an NVQ means that you have the skills, knowledge and understanding to perform effectively in a job. At Lewisham College, we offer three levels of NVQ in courses from beauty to bricklaying.

Diplomas

The Diploma is a qualification for 14 to 19 year-olds, offering them a more practical, hands-on way of gaining the essential skills employers and universities look for. The Diploma is flexible, so students can combine it with GCSEs and A levels. Designed in partnership with employers and universities, the Diploma can lead on to further study - or to work.
